Hello CSA members. We are now in week six and already 1/3 of the way through the season!! The farm is really coming to life with a lot of new produce ripening each week. We are in the height of the raspberry season with melons and tomatoes coming soon. Your basket is designed to give you a taste of what is in season and if your family has any favourites, chances are you can find them at our on-line store. Indicate in the notes section you are a CSA member and we will have everything ready for you on pick up day.
Here is what you can expect this week:
Raspberries Fresh picked daily, these sweet and tart beauties are summer-bearing which mean they only ripen a few week in the summer and then they are gone. Eat fresh, use in desserts, add to cereals, yogurt or smoothies. Raspberries are a great source of dietary fiber and vitamin C.
Hearty Lettuce Mix A nice mix of hearty lettuces all washed and ready to eat.
Green Onions Long slender green crunchy onions. Chop up and add to your salad.
Cucumber Mix A mix of sweet heritage white and green pickling cucumbers.
Sour Cherries Unlike the sweet cherries from last week that are for eating fresh, sour cherries tend to be a bit mouth puckering and perfect for everything else; use them in jams to pies to ice cream, juices, compotes and beyond.
Zucchini Summers most popular squash with endless recipes. Zucchini’s mild taste and creamy texture make it incredibly versatile. This supercharged staple can easily become your family favourite.
Bunch Sage A wonderful culinary herb with a strong herbal aroma and earthy flavour.
Enjoy.
