Also known at Santa Claus melon or Christmas melon, this variety originated in Spain.  Piel de Sapo means “frog skin” in Spanish and its skin closely resembles the amphibian they are named after.  Deliciously sweet and refreshing flavour, this melon has a thick rind which has a very long shelf life.  Great as a snack, salads, appetizers, desserts and cheese platters paired with a crisp white wine. Juicy white flesh with a taste somewhere between a pear and honeydew.
